If there's anything I've learnt from my field exercises, final exercises and on some weekends is that, sometimes you can plan for something, but when it's time to execute, things can go in a completely new direction.
As a result, any plans you've made, no matter how meticulously, can go to shite.
After which, you'd better come up with Plan B quick.
Another thing I've learnt about planning stuff is that it can make you pretty stiff and narrow-minded. It closes your mind up to the possibilities and it makes you too focused on what you attempt to foresee.
Which leads to a common cause of of cock-ups: Assumption.
When planning, you will be lulled into a dangerous state of mind where you assume that the conditions will go exactly the way it would in your plan.
The truth is, things can move in any direction and in a split second, things can change drastically.
Which leads to a common cause of heartache: Anticipation.
When you wait for stuff to happen, for example, outings, movie releases, events etc, especially if you've been waiting for a long time, you anticipate and you count on those events to take place.
When eventually the date arrives and the thing you wait so long for doesn't happen, it can cause a lot of pain.
Learn from it, boy.
As humble servants of Allah S.W.T, the Most Gracious and All-Knowing, we are powerless in changing our fates for which He has predetermined. To what extent we have control over our fates will remain a mystery for now, but we, children of Adam, have been given intelligence and will to plan for the future and make choices. And that's about it. What happens after that is all in the hands of the Almighty, and every event in each person's life happens for a reason. The reason? Allahu A'lam. Surrender yourself to Him, have faith and perhaps, the answer will be clear to you one day, insya'allah.
